Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 19, 2026
This policy explains what information Dottya handles, where it is stored, who it is shared with and what you can do about it.
1. What information we handle
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture. If you change your name in Settings, we keep the one you choose.
- What you send: the messages you write, the files you attach (PDFs, images, text) and the projects you create, with their instructions and documents.
- Usage records: when you use the AI, which model answered and how much each answer consumed. We use them to apply your plan's usage limits (per 5-hour session and per week).
- Memory: if it's on, short details about you that the AI takes from your messages to help you in other chats (for example, what you study or an exam date). You can see them, delete them or turn memory off in Settings > Memory.
- Ratings: if you mark an answer as helpful or not helpful, we keep that rating, the reason and any comment you write, with the message, to improve the answers.
- Links you paste in the chat: our server opens the page or video so the AI can read its contents. Those contents aren't stored in your account.
- Basic technical data any web server receives, such as IP address and browser type.
- If you buy the Pro plan: your subscription status (plan, billing period, renewal or cancellation date). Your card details go only to the payment provider; Dottya never sees or stores them.
2. Where it is stored and for how long
You need an account to use Dottya. Your conversations, projects and project documents are stored on our servers, linked to your account, so you can see them on any device.
- Conversations and projects: kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Files attached in a chat: sent to the AI to generate the answer, but we don't keep their contents; the conversation only keeps their name, type and size.
- Project documents: kept in our file storage until you remove them from the project, delete the project or delete your account.
- Incognito chats: not stored anywhere; they disappear when you leave them, and they aren't used for memory.
- Memory: kept until you delete each detail, clear all memory or delete your account.
- Shared chats: if you share a chat, we keep a copy of it as it was, which anyone with the link can see, even without an account. It's deleted when you stop sharing it, delete the chat or delete your account.
- Usage records: kept without your email or name, only with an internal identifier, to understand the cost of the service, even after the account is deleted.
- Payment records: kept for as long as the law requires for accounting and tax purposes.
3. What we use the information for
- Generating the answers, documents and study material you ask for.
- Saving your conversations and projects so you can come back to them.
- Managing your account, your plan and its usage limits.
- Keeping the service running, fixing errors and preventing abuse.
We don't sell your information, use it to show you advertising or use it to train artificial intelligence models.
4. Who it is shared with
To work, Dottya uses providers that handle information on our behalf:
- OpenAI, which runs the AI models and web search. Your messages and the contents of your files are sent to it to generate each answer, and it may retain them for a limited time under its own policies.
- Supabase, which handles sign-in, the database and file storage.
- Render and Vercel, which host the server and the website.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with your Google account.
- Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record for the Pro plan: it processes the payment, issues invoices and handles taxes. It receives your email and the payment details you give it at checkout.
These providers may be located outside your country, including in the United States. We may also disclose information when a competent authority legally requires it.
5. Security
Information travels encrypted between your browser and our servers, and only your account can see your conversations and documents. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
6. Don't upload sensitive information
Avoid attaching documents with data you don't want to share with an external service, such as ID numbers, bank details, medical records or other people's personal information.
7. Local storage and cookies
Dottya keeps your signed-in session and your language and theme preferences in your browser. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
8. Your rights
From Settings you can, at any time:
- Download a copy of your data (conversations and projects).
- Delete all your conversations.
- Delete your account, which erases your account, your conversations, your projects and their documents.
In addition, depending on the law of your country (for example, Law 1581 of 2012 in Colombia or the GDPR in the European Union), you have the right to access, update, correct and request deletion of the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw your consent. To exercise these rights, write to support@dottya.com.
9. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under that age has given us personal data, write to us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and its date. If the change is significant, we will let you know in the app or by email.
