How to make a bibliography for your paper
The bibliography is the list of every source you used, at the end of your paper. In APA 7 each reference has the author, year, title and source, sorted alphabetically by the author's last name. For example: Garcia, M. (2023). Title of the article. Journal Name, 12(3), 45-60. With Dottya you don't build them by hand: it gives you ready references from the sources it read.
How it works
- 1
Find your sources
Research your topic with Dottya on the web, or with Academic Mode for research papers.
- 2
Pick the format
Under the answer, choose APA 7 or IEEE, whichever your teacher asks for.
- 3
Copy the bibliography
Copy the formatted references and paste them at the end of your paper.
What to keep in mind
- Include only the sources you actually cited in the text
- In APA 7 they're sorted by the first author's last name
- In IEEE they're numbered in the order they appear in the text
- Every citation in the text needs its reference in the list
- Always check the final reference against what your teacher asks for
Frequently asked questions
In APA 7 the list is called References and includes only what you cited. A bibliography can also include what you read without citing. Many teachers use both words for the same thing.
APA 7 and IEEE, the ones schools and universities ask for most.
